S.M. Jaleel and Company has proudly inaugurated our Internship Programme, themed “Inspiring Excellence Through Experience,” marking a significant milestone in our 100-year legacy. We’ve welcomed ten promising interns from the esteemed University of the West Indies, affirming our commitment to nurturing young talent and fostering innovation.
Under the stewardship of our Chief Operating Officer and Director, Mrs. Anna Mohammed, the interns were warmly welcomed during her feature address. Mrs. Mohammed emphasized the pivotal role of the internship programme in shaping future leaders and driving organizational growth. Her inspiring words highlighted the company’s dedication to providing real-world experience that is essential for the professional development of these young talents.
The interns, selected from diverse academic backgrounds, will embark on a ten-week journey, gaining hands-on experience across various departments within the company. This strategic placement underscores S.M. Jaleel and Company’s dedication to offering comprehensive learning opportunities tailored to individual interests and career aspirations. The immersive nature of the programme ensures that interns receive a well-rounded understanding of the business, preparing them for future leadership roles.
The launch event witnessed the presence of key executives, including Vice President of Human Resources, Trevor Khan, and Group HR Manager Crystal Lyons Waldron, emphasizing the company’s top-level endorsement of the initiative. Additionally, presentations were delivered by seasoned professionals, including Chief Financial Officer Neil Ramjattan, Public Relations and Marketing Manager Rae-Ann Harper, and Health and Safety Manager Varuna Maharaj. These presentations offered valuable insights into their respective domains, guided by the Company’s Business Principles—the 4 C’s of Character, Compassion, Commitment, and Competence. Each presentation provided the interns with a deeper understanding of the integral aspects of the company’s operations and the values that drive its success.
