Company Notice: Otaheite, South Oropouche, Trinidad & Tobago (10 Jan 2017, 11am)

This morning at approximately 9:45am while performing a routine assessment of an electrical panel at the company’s Otaheite compound, three contractors sustained electrical burns. The men were immediately attended to by the company’s Occupational Health Specialist, nurse and an HSE Officer. They were taken by ambulance to the San Fernando Hospital accompanied by SM Jaleel’s HSE Staff. Representatives of the company are at the hospital monitoring the situation.

Following the accident involving three contractors at SM Jaleel’s Otaheite compound two days ago on Tuesday 10th January 2017, Fire Services officials conducted an analysis of the site yesterday with a team of SM Jaleel employees from the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Department. Today, a similar assessment was conducted with OSHA Inspectors and the SM Jaleel Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) team. All reports have been made by the company to local authorities as required by law and the Occupational Safety

Company Notice: Update – Otaheite, South Oropouche Trinidad & Tobago (12 January 2017, 7pm)

As at 6:30pm this evening two of the men hospitalised following an accident on Tuesday 10th January 2017 at SM Jaleel’s Otaheite compound have been discharged from the San Fernando General Hospital. The condition of the third man has improved and he has been moved out of the ICU and into the high dependency unit of the hospital.
