On Saturday, March 22nd, SM Jaleel (SMJ) HSE Department joined the Forestry Division in hosting an unforgettable visit by SMJ staff to the Nariva Swamp, a Ramsar-designated wetland of international importance. This experience allowed team members and their families to connect with nature, strengthen team bonds, and gain deeper insights into the ecological significance of this unique habitat.
Guided by the Forestry Division’s expert staff and Game Wardens, attendees explored the Bush-Bush Wildlife Sanctuary, where they observed the towering silk-cotton tree, the largest tree in Nariva Swamp – the Sandbox tree, rare birds, and even red howler monkeys in their natural environment. 🌳🐦🐒
This visit marked the culmination of SMJ’s ongoing environmental collaborations with the Forestry Division, following our participation in the official World Wetlands Day launch at Icacos Government Primary School on February 2nd and the International Day of Forests celebration at Williamsville Secondary School on March 21st.
SMJ remains committed to environmental stewardship and supporting initiatives that promote sustainability and conservation. 🌍💚
